How to configure/update Bend Mail settings on Devices
iOS
This article provides instructions on how to set up your existing BendBroadband email account using iOS Mail email clients. For Chambers Cable email addresses, you can follow the steps below, but use the server settings listed on the Chambers Cable Email Information page.
Note: You must set up the email account with BendBroadband before setting it up in iOS Mail. Visit the Add a New BendBroadband User Account page for more instructions on creating a new email address.
Steps
- Open/Tap Settings.
- From the Settings menu, scroll down to Mail, Contact, Calendars.
- Tap Add Account.
- Tap Other.
- On the "Add your email accounts" page, complete all fields and check the "Manually configure server settings" box. Click Next.
- In the New Account section, complete all fields as follows and select next:
- Name: The name you want displayed on outgoing mail
- Email Address: Your full email address
- Description: How you want to identify this account in your account list
- In the New Account section, complete all fields as follows and select Next:
- Name, Email, and Description: Will be populated from previous page
- Incoming Mail Server Section
- Host Name: pop-server.bendbroadband.com
- User Name: Full email address
- Password: Password used to login to Webmail
- Under Outgoing Mail Server Section
- Host Name: smtp-server.bendbroadband.com
- User Name field: Full email address
- Password: Password used to login to Webmail
- On the “Cannot Connect Using SSL” dialogue box, select Yes
- The Account has now been created. Now you need to update another setting:
- On the next screen that appears after selecting yes, your email address will be at the top, and Account Information will be below
- Select Advanced
- In the Advanced screen:
- Use SSL should be off (will be greyed out)
- Authentication should be Password
- Server Port IMAP: 110
- Tap select email address at top left to return to previous screen
- On the Email Account screen, select the email address in the SMTP section
- On the SMTP screen select the “On>” next to the server under PRIMARY SERVER
- On the smtp-server.bendbroadband.com screen, complete all fields as follows and select Done.
- Server at top is set to on (should be green). Use SSL should be off (will be greyed out).
- Authentication should be Password. Tap Done.
- Host Name: smtp-server.bendbroadband.com
- User Name: Full email address
- Password: Password you use to login to Webmail
- Server Port: 25
- On the SMTP screen select your email address at the top left to return to the Email Account screen
- On the Email Account Screen select Done
- Your email address is now set up and ready for use. Press the Home button on your device to exit setup.
- Select the Mail App to access your email
Android
This article provides instructions on how to set up your existing BendBroadband email account using the Android email program.
For Chambers Cable email addresses, you can follow the steps below, but use the server settings listed here.
Note: You must first set up the email account with BendBroadband before setting it up in Android. For more instructions on creating a new email address click here.
Steps
- Since all Android manufacturers use individual overlays to change the look of their menu and settings, we do not have specific settings for each type of device. Following are basic settings for most Android devices.
- Open your device's email application
- Press Menu
- Select Accounts
- Press Menu again
- Select Add Account
- Type your email address and password
- Select IMAP or POP3
- Enter the following settings into their corresponding fields:
- Username: Your full email address
- Password: The password you use to log in to Webmail
- Incoming Server address: pop-server.bendbroadband.com
- Ports:
- IMAP: 143
- POP: 110
- Outgoing Server Address: smtp-server.bendbroadband.com
- Port: 25
- Security Type: None
- Select Require sign-in
- Tap Next again. Name your account and enter the name you want to display on outgoing messages
