Local Surcharge Fee Increasing for BendBroadband Video Customers September 1
What is a Local Surcharge Fee?
In Central Oregon, the geography makes it difficult to see broadcast channels over the air in every location, so we make all local broadcast channels available to you as part of your BendBroadband subscription. In order to carry these channels on our system, local broadcasters charge BendBroadband a fee each month, per subscriber, to retransmit their signal into a cable channel for your convenience and enjoyment.
Why is this fee increasing?
The last contract with one of the local broadcasters ended June 30th. BendBroadband negotiated for the lowest possible increase, which goes into effect on July 1st. BendBroadband will pass along only the cost of the increase to customers beginning with your August statement.
I’m tired of my programming expenses going up, and not being able to customize my tv package. What are you doing to alleviate the issue?
We're tired of the ever-rising costs of programming as well. On June 12, 2013 BendBroadband President and CEO delivered testimony to the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. Click here to see Amy's message to Congress and how programming regulations are hurting customers everywhere.
For any further questions, please email BendBroadband Customer Care, or call us at 541.382.5551. We know that a fee increase, no matter how small, can be frustrating. We truly appreciate your business and are eager to help in any way we can.
